DSA: FAQs
Can I pay for the course through my Disabled Student Allowance?
Yes. If your Assessor of Need recommends SuperReading on your
Assessment of Need report, or your learning support tutor (or
Disability Officer) justify why you need SuperReading, Student
Finance England has agreed to pay for it. Currently, their payment
depends on your attendance.
Can I ask the Assessor of Need to recommend SuperReading?
Yes. If your reading speed is slow, or your comprehension (or retention)
low, you can ask theAssessor of Need to recommend SuperReading
on your Assessment of Need report. It is their job to provide
you with what you need. If you ask your Assessor of Need to recommend
SuperReading, Student Finance England will pay for you.
Can my support tutor organise payment for SuperReading?
Yes,
Student Finance England has agreed, in writing, to pay for support
that was not recommended by the Assessor of Need, if it is justified.
You can find a template suitable for learning support tutors or
Disability Officers to write (or email) SFE here to justify the
cost. The funds still come through your DSA.
What can I do if my Assessment of Need report has already been
written and it doesn’t include SuperReading?
You are entitled to go back to your Assessor of Need and ask them
to include it on an amended report. You can find a template for
writing (or emailing) them here.
Alternatively,
your learning support tutor, or Disability Officer can organise
payment from Student Finance England.
What if I have not got the Disabled Students Allowance?
If you have a specific learning difference such as dyslexia and
you are a UK citizen, you are entitled to apply for it. If not,
you will need to seek alternative funding, or pay for the course
yourself.
What happens if SuperReading doesn’t
improve my reading?
We are so sure that it will, that we
give a money back guarantee provided you practice the eye-hops.
